Our Focus Is On You
We offer a wide range of services provided by highly skilled professionals who deeply value your health and well-being. From management of dry eye and ocular disease to occupational assessments, our experienced and caring staff are here for you!
Comprehensive Eye Exams
Comprehensive eye examinations play a crucial role in maintaining good eyesight and good ocular and systemic health. At Fergus Optometry we are dedicated to ensuring that your eyes are thoroughly looked after and that you are seeing your best. The eyes are the only place where your blood vessels are clearly visible thus they can often reveal signs of diabetes, high blood pressure and other disorders.

There is a common misconception that if a person sees well, their eyes must be healthy. In fact, many common eye diseases have no early warning symptoms. Our highly trained optometrist has the skill to detect many of these eye conditions in their earliest stages before irreversible damage and vision loss can occur.

Eye diseases and conditions can occur at any age, but adults over 40 are more likely to develop:
-
Presbyopia
-
Cataracts
-
Glaucoma
-
Age Related Macular Degeneration
The Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends adults over 40 should obtain a comprehensive eye examination at least once every 2 years, and seniors 65 and older should undergo a comprehensive eye examination annually.

Pediatric Eye Exams
Your child’s vision develops quickly in their first 3 years of life so it is important to have them assessed regularly by a trained optometrist so that any early issues can be identified and treated. Good vision plays a large part in what your child learns as they grow, so it is vital to ensure that they are seeing well.

Since conditions such as a lazy eye need to be treated before visual development stops in a child, it is important to have your child checked regularly, at least once a year as recommended by our optometrist. OHIP does cover annual eye examinations for anyone under the age of 20.
We perform eye examinations on children aged 6 months and older using fun games, pictures and videos for younger children who are not able to read or respond by speaking to the doctor.

Occupational Vision Testing
We provide assessments and documentation for persons working in or applying to fields that require specific standards of vision. These services include but are not limited to completing vision testing for the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP ), fireman, RCMP and Ministry of Transportation. In addition we provide extensive visual field testing, colour vision and depth perception assessments. We also carry a good selection of safety eyewear for occupational eyewear protection.
Digital Eyestrain & Dry Eye Treatment
Dry eyes can occur for many reasons, including prolonged exposure to electronic devices or from conditions such as rosacea. Fortunately, there is no reason why you need to suffer with the gritty, scratchy, burning sensation of dry eyes any longer. Our highly trained doctor can discuss the latest proven therapies and derive a personalized treatment plan to provide you with lasting relief.
Contact Lens Fittings & Assessments
Interested in wearing contact lenses? Our doctor will assess the overall health of your eyes to ensure that they are healthy enough to wear contacts then perform a fitting to determine the best lens to suit your prescription, preferences, and lifestyle.
Genetics & Macular Degeneration Management
A diagnosis of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) can be alarming but rest assured that early detection and ongoing follow-up care can help slow the progression of the disease and reduce the severity of symptoms. Our doctor can discuss your options for ongoing care which can include genetic testing to determine prognosis risk and optimal vitamin supplementation to maintain the health of your eyes.
LASIK Consultations
We provide evaluation and referral services for patients who are considering undergoing laser vision correction, including verifying that your prescription is stable and determining whether your eyes are healthy enough to undergo surgery. As a TLC Laser Eye Centre affiliated optometrist our doctor can provide full pre- and post-operative care at our convenient location.
Emergency Eyecare Services
We understand that ocular emergencies can occur at any time. Therefore, we offer emergency services for conditions that require immediate and urgent eye care. If your eye is injured, don’t try to judge the severity of it. Immediately seek the opinion of an eye doctor to lessen the risk of hurting your vision.

For emergencies ONLY outside of regular office hours please call (519) 580-6320 to connect with our Optometrist personally. Please leave a detailed message if there is no immediate answer.
